NCC to deliver new campus for Dalarna University (SE)

NCC, acting on behalf of Diös, will remodel the former Liljanhuset property in Borlange into a new university building. A project is a turnkey contract in partnering form with an order value of just over €39m (SEK 400m).

“We have developed an excellent product in cooperation with Dalarna University and NCC. It is gratifying that we can now start up the work to develop a modern and attractive learning environment for future students. For Borlange as a city, the development of Dalarna University’s new campus in will increase footfall in the area and give impetus for the development of new establishments, and the strengthening of already existing offering,” said Mikael Hedh, Business Manager, Dios Dalarna.

NCC will complete the university’s new campus by remodelling and expanding a former mixed-use property, which used to be the Domus department store. The total construction area, including the extension, amounts to 18,500m² and will incorporate completely new learning environments and the conditions to develop operations. The building’s energy and resource use will be optimized, and it will be environmentally certified according to BREEAM In-Use Very Good, or the equivalent.

“In this project, we will reuse and build on the existing concrete frame to create the new campus for Dalarna University. By working on grounds where there is a building already and reusing the existing frame we improve the climate performance,” commented Henrik Landelius, Head of NCC Building Sweden.
