On behalf of Jernhusen, NCC will be extending Hagalunds Depa in Solna, outside Stockholm. NCC has secured an additional assignment to upgrade and extend the Heltagsverkstaden train maintenance depot on the site. The project is a turnkey contract in partnering form with an order value of c. €31.2m.
The Heltagsverkstaden train maintenance depot, located in the western part of the Hagalund depot site, is a fully equipped eight-track depot. Built in the 1990s, it has undergone several extensions since then and a further step in its modernization is now set to begin.
NCC’s assignment covers the refurbishment and extension of the existing Heltagsverkstaden, which will expand the capacity of the maintenance depot by nearly 17%. The total area of Heltagsverkstaden is 18,000m2, and the extension will add 3,000m2. The project will enable the certification of Heltagsverkstaden as a whole under the BREEAM In-Use sustainability certification scheme with a rating of Very Good.
“Developing Hagalunds Depa is a key step in meeting the need for increased capacity in Swedish infrastructure. With this additional Heltagsverkstaden assignment, we will be able to support our client, Jernhusen, in this important project,” said Niklas Sparw, Head of NCC Building Sweden.
NCC began working on Hagalund’s Västra Vagnhallen (Western Depot) in the spring. The Heltågsverkstaden project will commence immediately and will continue until 2027.
