On behalf of Specialfastigheter, NCC is constructing the Mariestad correctional facility on land adjacent to the Rodjan facility in Mariestad. The project is now entering the production stage and NCC’s assignment is expected to encompass c. €22.3m more than the initially announced amount of c. €80.1m.
The project is part of NCC’s and Specialfastigheter’s strategic framework agreement. The new correction facility is part of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service’s investment in meeting the need for more prison places. Mariestad will be a closed correctional facility comprising three buildings each containing 48 cells.
“Correctional facilities comprise large projects in which many societal functions must be contained within a limited area, which requires careful planning and advanced logistics. NCC always strives for synergies in our various assignments and brings valuable experience from projects similar to the Mariestad facility,” said Niklas Sparw, Head of NCC Building Sweden.
Following joint design and development in close collaboration with Specialfastigheter and the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, the project is now entering the production stage. The building is expected to be completed in spring 2027.
