Manchester City FC obtained planning approval for a €350.6m expansion of its Etihad Stadium.
It is anticipated that the main construction works will commence on-site in November, with John Sisk expected to be named the main contractor.
The project will increase the stadium's capacity from 54,000 to 60,000. Plans include several connected all-weather facilities integrated into the stadium centred around an expanded North Stand with one larger, single upper tier above the existing lower tier. The project will be completed and open during the 2025/26 football season.
Above the upper tier, a sky bar with views overlooking the pitch will be built alongside a stadium roof walk experience. A covered City Square fan zone, with a capacity for 3,000 people and a wide variety of food and drink outlets, a new club shop, museum and a 400-bed hotel are also proposed. The hotel, workspace and public realm works, including City Square, are scheduled to be completed by late 2026.
