KK Invest, DBC Invest, and CIP acquire majority shares of Sindal Biogas (DK)

KK Invest, DBC Invest and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) have reached an agreement to acquire the majority of the shares of Sindal Biogas. The goal is to build a leading bioenergy plant in Denmark and thus make a positive contribution to the ecological transition in the municipality of Hjorring and in Denmark.

The investment in Sindal Biogas is made through CI Advanced Bioenergy Fund I (CI ABF I), which has the backing of some of the largest Danish pension funds. This investment aligns with CI ABF I's strategy as Sindal Biogas utilizes industrial and agricultural waste to produce green gas, contributing to the resolution of various environmental challenges.

At Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners we look forward to working with the current owners of Sindal Biogas to develop and operate what is intended to be one of the largest biogas plants in Denmark. We see great potential in the conversion of sustainable biomass into green gas and green fuels, which play a crucial role in the ecological transition. The acquisition of the majority shares in Sindal Biogas represents an important step for our fund and our portfolio of biogas projects. We hope to continue developing and completing the plant with our partners so that together with the local community we can create new jobs and contribute to the green transition," said Thomas Dalsgaard, Partner at CIP.

DBC has been co-owner of Sindal Biogas for almost four years, and we have been delighted to be part of the growth and development of the biogas plant together with Karen Kirketerp and Morten Glenthoj and the plant's day-to-day management team. The biogas plant has many very capital-intensive development opportunities ahead, so it has been natural for DBC to reduce our ownership stake. We see CIP as the right partner for the future," said Rune Ledgaard Sorensen, CEO of DBC Invest.
