Seasonally adjusted industrial production decreased by 0.2% in the euro-zone in September 2002 compared to August 2002, Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities in Luxembourg, estimates today.
Production had increased by 0.2% in August, after a fall of 0.5% in July. Output in the EU15 decreased by 0.1% in September 2002, after remaining stable in August3 and falling by 0.1% in July. In September 2002 compared to September 2001, industrial production fell by 0.6% in the euro-zone and by 0.9% in the EU15.
Monthly comparison
In September 2002 intermediate goods decreased by 0.8% in the euro-zone and by 1.2% in the EU15. Capital goods fell by 0.6% and non-durable consumer goods by 0.4% in both areas. Durable consumer goods decreased by 0.1% in the euro-zone and remained stable in the EU15, while the energy index remained stable in the euro-zone and increased by 0.2% in the EU15.
