Action Hotels, a market leader in owning and developing branded mid-scale hotels in the Middle East recently listed on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange. Pascal Gauvin, IHG’s Chief Operating Officer, for India, Middle East and Africa commented: “Oman played a key role in the launch of the Holiday Inn brand in the Middle East region so, together with Action Hotels, it is fantastic to be able to bring the brand back to a country where it has so much history. We have worked very closely with Action Hotels to develop what is a great example of a Holiday Inn hotel which, along with the power of the iconic brand, will deliver a superior guest experience and drive great returns.”
“Tourist numbers to Oman are forecast to continue increasing at a rapid rate. This, combined with an undersupplied, mid-market hotel space with a limited number of international hotel brands, makes us confident that this hotel will be a success for many years to come. The opening of this hotel will be followed by the opening of Staybridge Suites Rawdath Abu Dhabi, which is also owned by Action Hotels, in 2015. We are pleased to have established such a great relationship with the company and we look forward to further opportunities to partner together in the future.”
Alain Debare, Chief Executive of Action Hotels thanked the parties involved and commented “Action Hotels is proud to have successfully completed this fine property and to bring back the Holiday Inn brand in Oman. Our focus is on branded mid market hotels where we believe there is significant growing demand, especially in the Middle East, with increased intra-regional travel and the growth of low cost airlines making travel easier and more affordable than ever before. As a business, we also believe that hotels play an important role in their contribution to the local economy where they are based and that is very important to us as Action Hotels.”
