Allianz to increase its real estate portfolio

The German insurance company Allianz wants to buy bonds and real estate and divest shares to strengthen the companyÂ's financial position. Contrary to other European insurers Allianz will approach its shareholders.

Previously Wolfgang Fink, head of the real estate investment department of Allianz, declared that Allianz remains interested in Dutch top-property, but: Â'We are approaching a critical point. It may make sense to sell what we have bought here about ten years ago. Investment in the Netherlands seems sensible in niche markets only.Â'

Â'We focus on the Randstad, on the four major cities. We consider this one region where we believe real estate will increase in value. We invest in offices, retail outlets and industrial real estate and not in apartments.Â'
