Copenhagen: When a €25bn urban investor reshapes its board, the profiles it chooses reveal where it thinks the next decade of value sits. Urban Partners has appointed Hilde Tonne and Jonathon Bond to its Board of Directors, adding senior expertise across investment, institutional capital, technology and sustainable urban development as the firm pushes further into its urban solutions strategy.
Tonne currently serves as Chair of Arup Group and Senior Advisor at Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, having previously been CEO of Statnett, Norway's transmission system operator, Chief Innovation Officer at Ramboll and Executive Director at Telenor. Her board history spans Danske Bank, Vattenfall, Statkraft and the Research Council of Norway. Bond co-founded and managed Actis Capital, an investment firm focused on sustainable investments, and later spent several years as Chief Investment Officer at Grosvenor, alongside senior roles across development finance and private equity.

The detail worth noting for investors is what these two appointments have in common: neither comes from a conventional real estate background. Tonne's career sits at the intersection of energy infrastructure, digital transformation and major CAPEX, while Bond's is rooted in private equity and responsible investing. For a firm managing €25bn across the capital structure, recruiting energy grid and private equity expertise rather than more property specialists signals where Urban Partners expects returns to come from next, namely the convergence of real estate with energy infrastructure, technology and city-scale development rather than traditional asset selection alone.
Following the appointments, the board comprises Bülow-Lehnsby, Vice Chairman Jim Hagemann Snabe, Co-founder Rasmus Nørgaard, Morten Beck Jørgensen, Bond and Tonne. Former board member Celia Francis remains connected to the firm in an advisory capacity. Founded as Nrep in 2005, Urban Partners develops, manages and finances assets across Northern Europe and marks 20 years of operation this year.
