Construction work is well under way on the country's second largest shopping mall, located in the heart of Switzerland. When opening its doors in autumn of 2017, the Mall of Switzerland, will offer a unique mix of shopping experiences and leisure activities.
This innovative destination with its architecture combining international and regional elements, will comprise 150 shops and restaurants plus a variety of fun and leisure facilities, such as a multiplex cinema with 12 screens, an indoor surf wave and a fitness and health club. With parking for over 1,600 vehicles and excellent access to public transport by train and bus, 46,000 m2 GLA of retail and 5,000 m2 GLA of catering space, the Mall of Switzerland is expected to attract approx. 5 million visitors per year. The project will be supplemented by a residential development, a hotel and an office building.
Since the cornerstone laying ceremony in May 2014, the construction work has been moving at full speed. In terms of the overall timeline, everything is on track to meet the schedule set. One of the next milestones will be the completion of a nearby showroom which will feature elements of the interior design and two highly detailed models. While the highly detailed architectural mass model of the project (scale of 1:500) has first been displayed at the Shopping Center Forum Switzerland this May, a 2.5 m long automated large scale architectural model (scale of 1:100) will be displayed at various real estate fairs over the remainder of the year:
- EXPO Real, Munich: October 5-7, 2015 (stand C2.320/Swiss Circle and stand A1.331/FREO)
- Retail Forum Switzerland, Zurich: November 5, 2015
- Mapic, Cannes: November 18-20, 2015 (Riviera 7, stand R7.H3/Swiss Circle)
Representatives from both the project developer FREO Switzerland AG and the leasing experts from CBRE Switzerland will be available at all three events.
