The Inditex Group is planning logistics investments for € 250 million (ES)

The expected growth of the activity of Inditex in the upcoming years has induced the group to plan investments in all its logistics centers to achieve the required distribution capacity. Expected logistics investment for the 2005-2007 period will affect all the platforms currently existing. The total sum forecast, which amounts to €250 million approximately, will allow to set up also new centers to serve the expansion of the various commercial formats of the Group.

Investments in Galicia, Aragon, Catalonia and Valencian Community
Zara, the largest format in the group, has at present two distribution centsr located at Arteixo (A Coruña) and Zaragoza, which shall receive part of the investment in order to increase their capacity, thus absorbing the expected increase in the number of the points of sale worldwide (between 110 and 120 new stores just in 2005). Arteixo serves the Iberian, American and Asian markets, while the center located at Zaragoza is mainly devoted to the European markets.

In Galicia, in addition to the investments to be made in the logistics center of Arteixo, the increase of the capacity of the Pull and Bear logistics center, located in Narón, in the province of A Coruña, in the area of Ferrol, is projected. Pull & Bear expects to have more than 400 stores at the end of this fiscal year.

The logistics platforms of the Group in Catalonia for the Massimo Dutti, Bershka and Oysho formats in Tordera (Barcelona) and Stradivarius in Sallent de Llobregat (Barcelona), as well as the logistics center for footwear of Tempe, located in Elche (Alicante), will also experience an increase in their capacity. With regard to Oysho, a new distribution center will be set up, with enough capacity to serve the expected growth of the format, which has opened 120 stores since 2001 and expects to close the fiscal year with more than 140 outlets.

New centres in Madrid and Leon
Finally, the group is planning to set up new logistics platforms to be located in Madrid and Leon (north-western Spain) in the selection thereof, both its geographical location and having a suitable transports infrastructure network have been considered.
