Swedish construction logistics startup Alrik raises €7m as sector digitalisation accelerates

Swedish construction tech startup Alrik has secured a fresh funding round led by Nordic VC People Ventures, with London-based Pi Labs doubling down on its investment after leading the company's €1m seed round last year. The funding brings Alrik's total capital raised to €7m as the company positions itself to capture a larger share of the €1.5 trillion global construction logistics market.

The timing of this raise is particularly strategic, as construction companies face mounting pressure to demonstrate ESG credentials while managing supply chain inflation that has plagued the sector since 2021. Alrik's platform addresses both challenges by automating logistics workflows that typically rely on manual phone calls and paper documentation, delivering an average 25% cost reduction per delivery alongside fully automated emissions reporting.

"Think of Alrik as the Doordash for building material merchants," said Nici Sundén-Cullberg, Founder and CEO. The platform connects suppliers, merchants, distributors, carriers, truck drivers and construction sites through a single operating system, eliminating the fragmented communication that causes costly project delays.

What makes Alrik particularly attractive to investors is its network effect potential in a traditionally relationship-driven industry. The platform's ecosystem model allows each merchant to connect with thousands of carriers and over 100,000 unique construction sites, creating powerful switching costs as the network grows. This addresses a key concern among PropTech investors who have seen numerous construction startups struggle with customer acquisition and retention.

The company has demonstrated impressive traction metrics, with revenue and app usage increasing over 10-fold in the past 12 months, while monthly shipments have grown from 2,000 to over 25,000. Major customers including Saint-Gobain, Renta, Byggmax, Sonsab, XL-Bygg and Karl Hedin are already using the platform across the Nordics.

"Alrik isn't just solving today's logistics challenges with a smart SaaS approach, it's unlocking new revenue streams and creating powerful distribution effects that connect merchants, carriers, and construction sites into a future-ready ecosystem," said Thérèse Mannheimer at People Ventures. The fresh capital will accelerate the company's expansion across northern Europe as construction digitalisation reaches a tipping point.
