State Secretary Remkes wants to make agreements with 20 urban areas

This year State Secretary Remkes wants to make agreements with 20 urban areas in respect to issues relating to spatial planning, such as housing, renovation, infrastructure, greenery, employment, financial support and safety.

The objective is to accelerate the governmentÂ's new policy. Next year these agreements will be laid down in regional conventions.

Solid agreements will be made in respect to the exact number of houses to be build, the percentage of owner-occupied houses, the number of social housing projects and safety issues. Also greenery, health conditions and the multiple use of available space will be incorporated. Financial deals in relation to Vinex locations and soil sanitation actions will have to be agreed upon.

These issues are the result of the Fifth Policy Paper on Spatial Planning and the Policy Paper on People, Wishes and Housing. The agreements are also made in name of other Ministries.
