Skanska has started the TampereMission project in Tampere. The site is expected to be completed in early 2026 and will feature 91 residential apartments, ranging in size from studios to four-room units. The upper floors of the building will have apartments for sale, while the lower floors will primarily offer rental apartments for the elderly. The 10th floor will include a sauna section and a green recreation yard for residents. Additionally, the housing association will have a parking garage where parking spaces will be sold as shares.
TampereMission's own operations will be located on the second floor of the building. At street level, there will be commercial premises, including a restaurant and cafe. The housing association will also have a sheltered courtyard shared with neighbouring properties for residents to enjoy.
"Tampere needs investments right now, and in TampereMission we want to support Tampere's attractiveness. We make wonderful living right in the centre of Tampere possible. Now is the right time to start construction: builders need work and the people of Tampere need apartments. Hopefully, the construction will pick up anyway and we will get Tampere's economy up again," said TampereMission executive director Tarja Eho.
"We are satisfied with TampereMission's decision to start the project. The building that was previously on the site was demolished at the beginning of the year, and we can start the construction work immediately," said Perttu Pitkala, director of the profit unit from Skanska.
