Richard Stone joins Mitheridge Capital Management as Partner to lead special situations strategy

London, United Kingdom: Mitheridge Capital Management has appointed Richard Stone as Partner, tasking him with leading the firm's newly launched special situations strategy. Stone joins from Reuben Brothers, where he served as Co-Head of Real Estate and founded the business's real estate lending platform, operating across the UK, Europe and the United States. He brings a track record spanning more than £3bn in debt and equity investments, alongside deep expertise in living and hospitality assets and an extensive private capital network.

The appointment represents a deliberate broadening of Mitheridge's capabilities beyond its established living sector platform. Stone's off-market origination and credit underwriting skills are designed to complement the corporate finance and M&A expertise of Aniruddha Barua, who joined the firm as Partner and Head of Strategy and Capital Formation in May 2026. Together, the two hires give Mitheridge end-to-end coverage across deal sourcing, structuring and execution, positioning the firm to pursue more complex and higher-return opportunities alongside its core residential pipeline.

"I've long admired Mitheridge for its willingness and flexibility to capitalise on evolving market opportunities, and the special situations offering will wholly embody this approach. I am very excited by the prospect of growing the business in partnership with William and the rest of the team," said Richard Stone, Partner at Mitheridge Capital Management.

William Yerburgh, Managing Partner at Mitheridge Capital Management, said: "Richard brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of identifying and executing complex investment opportunities. This skill set will form the foundation of the latest addition to our offering. Furthermore, his experience across hospitality and credit will be invaluable as we broaden our capabilities while continuing to expand our living sector expertise."

For investors and developers watching the UK living sector, the strategic context here is worth noting. Mitheridge's core pipeline currently stands at over 1,100 homes across London, and the firm recently secured planning approval for co-living developments in Brixton and Hackney Wick totalling more than 650 homes. The addition of a special situations capability, led by a practitioner with significant credit credentials, signals that the firm is positioning itself to act on distressed or complex assets as well as greenfield development, precisely the kind of dual-track approach that is gaining traction as higher-for-longer financing conditions continue to create dislocation in parts of the UK property market. Yerburgh and Stone have known each other for more than 25 years, giving the partnership a depth of trust that typically accelerates decision-making in time-sensitive special situations.

Mitheridge Capital Management is a London-based alternative investment firm specialising in real estate, with a focus on the living sector and a stated aim of generating market-leading returns through institutional discipline combined with a creative, problem-solving approach to investment.
