NCC has been contracted by state-owned property company Senatfastigheter to refurbish the District Court in the Tikkurila district of Vantaa in Finland. The assignment is a partnering contract with an order value of c. €41m.
NCC has been contracted to refurbish the existing court building, construct an extension and demolish the existing police station on the site. The project will take the form of a partnering contract between NCC and Senatfastigheter.
“The existing property was built in the 1980s and will now be given a real face lift. With a carefully planned process and a close partnering arrangement with Senatfastigheter, we will preserve the architectural and heritage values of the property,” said Catarina Molén-Runnas, Head of NCC Building Nordics.
The property currently houses the District Court of Eastern Uusimaa, a Guardianship Office, a Legal Aid Office, a Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Enforcement Authority. The new extension will contain offices and a customer service reception. The courtrooms will be upgraded and equipped with new technologies and systems for digital court processes.
“This contract is a major step toward a refurbished District Court in Vantaa. We have chosen a reliable player as our contract partner, who can deliver this demanding project according to plan. With a newly renovated District Court, we will be able to offer even more functional and modern premises for legal service providers,” said Jonni Laitto, Director of Construction Project Management at Senatfastigheter.
Construction will commence during the spring and is scheduled for completion in spring 2026.
