Melia announces the reopening of the Balearic Islands hotels (ES)

Melia Hotels International has unveiled plans for this summer season in the Balearic Islands, where strong growth in bookings is expected from May due to the expected elimination of travel restrictions, progress with the vaccination programme and pent-up demand for travel. Together with the creation of a safe travel corridor with the United Kingdom - which has announced that British travellers will not have to quarantine after their return from the Balearic Islands - this has encouraged the company to bring forward the reopening of its most iconic hotels on the islands: the Melia Calvia Beach and Hotel de Mar Gran Melia in Mallorca, Melia Cala Galdana and Sol Falcó in Menorca, and the ME by Melia and Sol Beach House hotels in Ibiza.

he first to reopen its doors will be Melia Cala Galdana on May 7. Located in the most beautiful destination on the south coast of Menorca on the shores of the idyllic cove after which the hotel is named, it has become one of the company's most popular hotels in the world. Its success is due to both its extraordinary location in Menorca and the luxury and well-being experience it offers guests, making it one of the best ambassadors for the Melia Hotels & Resorts brand in the Mediterranean. It also has one of the most spectacular infinity swimming pools on the island. In addition, on May 27, Sol Falco reopens on Son Xoriguer beach, an all-inclusive hotel ideal for families, thanks to its excellent services and leisure facilities, such as its eight swimming pools, including the new Splash Park area with fun for all the family in the water.

In Mallorca, where the company currently has two city hotels open in Palma (Melia Palma Marina and INNSiDE Palma Centre), it expects to reopen the Melia Calvia Beach on May 14. This hotel is the finest example of the company's commitment to the renovation of Magaluf, a destination that is experiencing a total transformation to consolidate its success. The beachside hotel was fully renovated a few years ago to adapt to the new standards and attributes of the Melia Hotels & Resorts brand and is especially focused on well-being. Melia Calvia Beach offers one of the best holiday experiences on the island and hopes to once again capture demand for the destination in the summer of 2021. The company will also open Rooftop Nine at the INNSiDE Calvia Beach hotel, just a few metres from the Melia hotel, so that guests can also enjoy its magnificent terrace-restaurant, famous for its two hanging pools.

The reopening of the Hotel de Mar is scheduled for May 20. The hotel is the jewel in the crown for the Gran Melia brand in Mallorca, the highest expression of luxury in Spanish hospitality. It is an iconic adults-only resort located in a natural setting in Illetas, just a few minutes from Palma, and is a member of the exclusive group of The Leading Hotels of the World. The hotel is defined by its elegance, designer rooms with spectacular sea views, haute cuisine from the local chef Marga Coll at her Arrels restaurant, and a wide range of services that invite guests to enjoy the inimitable luxury of the Gran Melia brand.

Finally, the company has also announced the opening of Sol Beach House Ibiza and ME Ibiza on May 26 and May 27, respectively. Both hotels will reopen with many new features. ME Ibiza - also a member of The Leading Hotels of the World - will enhance its dining options this season with the opening of a restaurant using fresh, local ingredients named Origins and the Italian Bianco Mare restaurant. It will also present a new open spa by Thai Spa to enjoy the most relaxing treatments and further enhance the relaxed and luxurious experience for which this hotel is renowned and which continues to make it one of the most sought-after retreats on the island. Sol Beach House Ibiza, an adults-only hotel in Santa Eulalia del Río, will open a spectacular rooftop area with a pool and Bali bed and sunbed area with stunning sea views, allowing it to continue to be the ideal option for people looking for their “house on the beach", a place with total freedom to relax in Ibiza.

Melia Hotels International will also continue with its commitment to offer safe travel experiences for customers, and its Stay Safe With Meliá programme, certified worldwide by Bureau Veritas, will continue to be implemented in all its hotels to guarantee health and safety measures.
