M7 Real Estate, the pan-European investor and asset manager which specialises in the regional, multi-let real estate market, announces the further expansion of its European platform with the opening of an office in Helsinki and the appointment of Joona Suomela as Country Manager for Finland. This follows the recent investment of €80m in the region on behalf of M7 European Real Estate Investment Parters IV (“EREIP IV”), bringing M7‘s AUM in the Nordics to circa €286m.
Joona Suomela, who will be tasked with building M7’s Finnish operations, brings more than 13 years experience in the real estate sector, most recently at investment services company Elite Varainhoito Oyj where he was Head of Real Estate Investment Management. Prior to this he worked at Quorum Fund Management and at Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers, and he holds an MSc in Real Estate Economics from the Aalto University School of Science and Technology.
In addition, Tuomas Hulkkonen has been appointed as an asset manager for M7 Finland. Tuomas joined from Newsec, the largest specialised commercial property firm in the Nordics, where he worked as a key account manager.
Mette Seifert, Managing Director of M7 Denmark & Head of Nordics, said: “As a part of M7’s ongoing expansion across Europe, our new office in Helsinki will further strengthen M7’s footprint in the Nordics. We have been active in Denmark since 2013 and Finland is the natural next step following the increased focus on the region from M7's capital partners, as well as new investment strategies, sectors and third-party asset management mandates. Joona brings an impressive track record and we look forward to working with both him and Tuomas.”
