Several pension funds are showing interest to invest in the Central Europe Fund of developer AM. That was affirmed by the Chief Financial Officer Ton Beekman of AM to Dow Jones news service.
Since the beginning of 2002, the former MDC has been working on a Central Europe Fund that would have a volume of about € 500 mln. In September 2002, former CEO of MDC Hans van Veggel announced to PropertyNL that such funds could give an extra dimension to the new combination Amstelland MDC, the precursor of the present AM.
In the same interview, his former counterpart of Amstelland, Klaas de Ruiter, warned that asset management was no core competence of the new combination. Still, “that does not alter the fact that we can perform in mark niches where there are no funds”, said De Ruiter.
