CBRE taps Stephan Leimbach to lead occupier growth in Germany

Real estate veteran returns to occupier roots to spearhead integrated client services at CBRE Germany

CBRE, the world’s largest real estate services and investment firm, has appointed Stephan Leimbach as its new Head of Occupier Germany. Starting 1 November 2025, Leimbach will be based in Frankfurt and will lead CBRE’s Advisory & Transaction Services for occupiers across the country.

With over 18 years of executive experience at JLL, including his most recent role as Head of Office Investment Germany, Leimbach brings an investor’s lens to occupier strategy—an increasingly valuable edge as corporate real estate becomes more integrated, data-driven and performance-focused. His mandate at CBRE will be to expand client value through holistic occupier services and drive strategic growth in a sector primed for transformation.

“We see great growth potential in the Occupier sector and are convinced that with his extensive experience and exceptional client network, Stephan is ideally positioned to seize these opportunities for us,” said Kai Mende, CEO of CBRE Germany.

Leimbach’s career arc comes full circle with this move. “After 18 successful years at JLL, I am looking forward to my new role and the growth opportunities at CBRE,” he said. “This transition closes a circle for me, as I started my real estate career with occupier services. The experience I have gained in office leasing and most recently in the investment sector provides a comprehensive perspective of the occupier business, in which CBRE is already excellently positioned.”

This appointment comes as demand for high-performing, flexible office space surges across Germany’s top cities. For investors and developers, the implication is clear: occupier behaviour is reshaping asset value. Leimbach’s dual expertise in leasing and investment makes him uniquely qualified to help clients optimise portfolios and respond to evolving workplace trends, especially as ESG compliance, tech integration, and tenant experience become pivotal to returns.
