For the sixth progressive year, economic growth in Amsterdam has been above the national average, according to the city Department of Economic Affairs.
The number of new jobs continued to grow, with especial growth in the inner city. Amsterdam and its surroundings offer employment to over 627,000 people. In total 74 new foreign companies located in Amsterdam last year. Around 1,800 international firms have a base in the Amsterdam region. The department reports that investment in new office space is beginning to bear fruit, and the IT/new media lookout remains favourable.
