Aareal Bank and University of Cambridge sign up for partnership (DE/UK)

A partnership for the exchange of theory and practice has been signed today between Professor John Glascock, holder of the endowed chair for real estate studies of the international property group Grosvenor at the University of Cambridge’s Department of Land Economy, and Dr. Ralph Hill, Member of the Management Board of Aareal Bank. The signing ceremony took place at Aareal Bank’s head office in the presence of guests and 40 Cambridge students from around twenty countries, who will be sitting exams shortly. Success in the one-year course leads to the award of a MPhil in Real Estate Finance.

Dr. Hill comments: “As a leading international property bank, we want to make our unique property expertise available for an exchange between theory and practice, thereby supporting real estate programs, students and alumni at top European Universities. The property industry is becoming increasingly complex and globalised. Today’s real estate industry encompasses aspects of different disciplines and real estate experts must be able to apply sound, specialist knowledge of all aspects of law, business and financing at every phase of property transactions.”

The partnership consists of a programme of visits by MPhil students,
including market visits to European financing centres. This year, for example, Cambridge students will visit the Frankfurt property market, while in subsequent years it will be the turn of markets such as London and Paris. There will likewise be interactive modules as part of Aareal Bank’s employee development programme and guest lecture visits to Cambridge by experts and management personnel of Aareal Bank, also as part of other programmes, e.g. under the aegis of the INSEAD graduate school programme in Cambridge.

The current programme of guest lectures and modules will be continued and further developed by Christian Nickels-Teske, Head of Logistics Finance at Aareal Bank, and Professor Glascock at other European highereducation institutions such as the Helsinki Hanken School of Business and INSEAD in France.
