German construction companies Strabag AG and Ed Zueblin AG have launched merger talks, Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported, citing Strabag chief executive Hans Peter Haselsteiner.
In a pre-release of an article appearing in tomorrow´s edition, the newspaper quoted Haselsteiner as saying the merged company would also include parts of Walter Bau AG, which recently filed for insolvency.
Austria-based Haselsteiner would be willing to base the new company at Zueblin´s Stuttgart headquarters, he added.
According to newspaper reports published last month, Zueblin and Strabag are two of four construction companies to have started due diligence on Walter Bau.
