Sponda buys 3 central Helsinki properties from Elisa for € 25.5 million (FI)

Sponda is increasing its real estate portfolio in Helsinki Business District with the purchase of three office properties from telecommunication services provider Elisa for a total price of € 25.5 million.

The buildings at Korkeavuorenkatu 35 and 37 and Kasarmikatu 36 form a complete unit spanning the breadth of the block. The complex supports Sponda’s strategic aims in the Kaartinkaupunki district of central Helsinki. On the other side of Kasarmintori square Sponda already owns the Havis Business Center, where a large new restaurant and conference center will be opened at the beginning of October. The attraction of the area and its service level will be further improved in one year’s time when the Kasarmiparkki Oy parking facility being built by Oy Alfred A Palmberg Ab is opened.

The former head office of Elisa Corporation at Korkeavuorenkatu 35 has a total leasable area of approximately 2,500 m2. The leasable area of Korkeavuorenkatu 37 is around 3,200 m2 and of Kasarmikatu 36 roughly 5,000 m2, giving a total leasable area of some 11,000 m2. The office space in Korkeavuorenkatu 37 and Kasarmikatu 36 is already let. Sponda intends to renovate the currently unoccupied building at Korkeavuorenkatu 35 respecting its historical heritage. The telecoms facilities in the buildings are still rented to Elisa.

The granite building at Korkeavuorenkatu 35 was designed by Lars Sonck and completed in 1905. The adjacent office building at Korkeavuorenkatu 37, designed by architect Raoul Lehmann, was completed in 1967. The building at Kasarmikatu 36 is likewise the work of Lars Sonck and completed in 1935.
