Sacyr Vallehermoso SA is seeking investment partners to gain a significant stake in Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA, Expansion reported, citing unnamed Sacyr Vallehermoso sources.
Expansion said Sacyr Vallehermoso Luis del Rivero has initiated talks with large Spanish investors -- some of whom have offered to collaborate without having been asked -- to build a stake in BBVA beyond 3.1 pct.
On Friday, Bank of Spain governor Jaime Caruana reiterated that he does not plan to intervene in the constructor´s acquisition attempts if the stake remains below 5 pct.
Sacyr Vallehermoso is due to hold a board meeting Wednesday.
