ProLogis, a leading global provider of distribution facilities and services, announced today that the ProLogis European Properties Fund acquired a newly developed distribution facility in Sweden totaling 20,000 m² from DFDS Transport AB. A major European transport and logistics company, DFDS Transport will lease the building.
The new facility is located in the Händelö Industrial Area, less than 2 miles (3 km) from the center of Norrköping with excellent multi-modal connections by means of road, rail and waterway. Norrköping is a major distribution hub for Central Sweden and a major port for goods transported to and from the Baltics. Other major companies in the greater Norrköping area include: Ericsson, Saab, Whirlpool, Saab Aircraft, ABB, Philips, Proctor & Gamble, Bosch, and Goodyear.
According to Robin von Weiler, managing director of ProLogis 'We have identified Scandinavia as a logical extension of our European network of customer driven distribution facilities.' Von Weiler added, 'This transaction with DFDS Transport is an excellent way to enter this market where a large number of our international customers are located.
