ProLogis (NYSE: PLD) has announced that it is developing a pre-leased, 849,000-ft² distribution facility for Mohawk Industries at ProLogis TransPark in Fontana, California. Mohawk Industries is one of the world's largest manufacturers and distributors of floor coverings and related accessories. The company also leases space from ProLogis in San Antonio, Miami and St. Louis.
Mohawk Industries' vice president and general counsel, Sal Parillo, said, "All of us at Mohawk, and especially our Logistics department, appreciate everything that ProLogis has done for us in order to accommodate our specific needs for this facility. The excellent location of the park and the outstanding reputation of ProLogis were the most significant factors in our decision to locate there."
Larry Harmsen, senior vice president and regional director for ProLogis, said, "We are extremely pleased to expand our relationship with Mohawk Industries and provide them with a state-of-the-art distribution facility in one of the Inland Empire's very best locations."
Located at the intersection of I-10 and I-15, ProLogis TransPark offers exceptional freeway access; an estimated 40 percent of California truck traffic enters and leaves the state through this interchange. The park is also situated adjacent to the BNSF Railway Company's new, state-of-the-art transload facility, which will provide rail-to-door efficiencies.
ProLogis is one of the largest owners of distribution space in the Inland Empire, with more than 35 facilities totaling nearly 13 million square feet. ProLogis' other customers in the Inland Empire include Solo Cup, Black & Decker, Unilever, Skechers, Big Lots and Volkswagen.
