Premier opened its first hotel in Camden. The new 80-bedroom Premier Inn London Camden Hotel which is operated by Whitbread occupies a prominent position at the junction of Camden High Street and Delancey Street directly opposite the famous Blues Kitchen pub.
It is the first hub by Premier Inn hotel to open in Camden. Three new social rented homes to the rear of the property and a ground floor retail unit were also created by the prominent new development.
The hotel is expected to accommodate close to 40,000 guests per year based on the occupancy of other hubs by Premier Inn hotels in central London – leading to an anticipated annual boost to Camden’s economy of c. €4.4m per year.
Whitbread worked closely with employment officers at Camden Council to promote the new vacancies to Camden residents, with 75% of the new team joining Whitbread for the first time and four team members enrolling on the company’s well-regarded apprenticeship programme.
Louise Woodruff, property acquisitions manager for Whitbread said: “Working with our development partner Demar Holdings we have created a bright and bold new addition to Camden High Street which we’re all very proud of. The hotel is sure to be a hit with our guests given its super location, and I am especially pleased that we have been able to deliver three new homes for social rent and create 30 new job opportunities for the borough through the development. For me, it is a model for what hotel developments can deliver for Camden and I’m hoping we will be able to repeat the success elsewhere in the borough in due course.”
