Park Plaza plans new Berlin hotel in DIFA's "Wallhfe (DE)

Park Plaza Hotels Europe today unveiled its plans for its spectacular new 4-star deluxe Wallstreet Park Plaza, due to open in Berlin in Spring 2006. The brand new hotel will be located right in the heart of Berlin's historic city centre, close to 'Alexander Platz', 'Gendarmenmarkt' and 'Reichstag' (the German government building) and will occupy a stunning position on the same street as the company's art'otel berlin mitte.

Already under construction, the hotel site is that of monumental office building - 'Wallhöfe - which, dating back to 1910 is currently owned by DIFA (Deutsche Immobilien Fonds AG, Hamburg) who have signed a long-term rental agreement with Park Plaza Hotels Europe. The building will be converted into a modern design hotel by famous Austrian architect Johanne Nalbach - who was also responsible for the design of art'otel berlin mitte amongst many more of the city's striking architecture.

Plans for Wallstreet Park Plaza - aptly designed to represent the infamous New York Stock Exchange - reveal a truly stunning lobby, bar & restaurant, health club, meeting rooms, inner court terrace, private secure parking plus 167 luxury guestrooms. The individually designed, fully air-conditioned guestrooms and suites will include bespoke furniture, two separate telephone lines, flat screen televisions, wireless Internet connection and laptop safe.

Arguably, the hotel's most unique feature will be a 66-seat cinematic auditorium for movie premiers, product launches and special events.

With such a wealth of facilities, coupled with a stunning design concept and location, Wallstreet Park Plaza is set to become a very important player in the German capital's hotel market.

Micha Polak, Senior Vice President for Park Plaza Hotels Europe is confident that opening Wallstreet Park Plaza will reap substantial rewards for the company, with currently 3 hotels already open in the city:
"Wallstreet Park Plaza represents the latest of our development projects throughout Europe and our 4th Berlin hotel. Location, plus the design and individuality of our hotels is key to our appeal in the business and leisure travel markets.”

The 4-star deluxe Wallstreet Park Plaza will become the flagship Berlin property for the Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts brand, joining the group's existing Park Plaza Berlin. Park Plaza Hotels Europe also manages the 4-star deluxe art'otel brand, of which there are 2 in Berlin - art'otel berlin mitte and art'otel berlin city center west - making Park Plaza Hotels Europe a permanent fixture in the city's hotel scene.
