Panattoni has secured €20.7m in financing from Bank Milennium to develop a cutting-edge logistics hub for Auchan Polska. A fully robotic built-to-suit warehouse is to be constructed in Wilcza Gora near Warsaw.
“The financing from Bank Milennium will allow us to deliver an advanced, high-tech facility of strategic importance to our client. The integration of automated systems will enable Auchan to significantly streamline its operations and scale its e-commerce business in Poland,” stated Emilia Taczewska-Trojanska, the Head of Debt Finance Poland at Panattoni.
The new 18,000m2 distribution centre will serve the customers of Auchan’s modernised internet platform. Using automated systems based on artificial intelligence and machine learning from Ocado, this warehouse is to play a vital role in Auchan’s e-commerce infrastructure enabling the faster and more effective processing of orders. The solutions introduced in the facility will allow for the storage of a greater volume of goods, resulting in a wider choice of products available online. Eventually, customers will have access to a range of up to 40,000 different products including fresh produce, groceries and many non-perishable items.
Construction began in the third quarter of this year and the work is scheduled for completion in June 2025. The first operations are to be launched as early as the fourth quarter of 2025.
The development is to be certified under BREEAM for a rating of Excellent, which will result in lower operating costs for its tenants.
