Nissan-building sold to Axa and rented by Mexx

Insurance company Axa has bought the Nissan-building in Amsterdam from Imca Vastgoed and Fortress. The building is reported to have been sold for an amount of € 32,7 mln. Recently clothing company Mexx has rented the whole building (12.500 m²) including the frontbuilding of 3.000 m². Mexx is planning to establish its designcenter Mexx Village here and expand to approx. 30.000 m².

Jones Lang LaSalle advised both Axa and Mexx. Also Rechtstaete vastgoedadvocaten & belastingadviseurs was involved in the deal. Imca and Fortress were rumored to have bought the building last year for an amount of € 30 mln. Mexx would like to establish its company offices and the designer departments in the Nissan-building. At present the European headquarters of Mexx are based in Voorschoten; ultimately only the warehouses will remain there. Because of the take-over of Mexx by Liz Claiborne, also departments of Liz Claiborne in the UK will move to Amsterdam. Mexx is planning to move to Amsterdam in 2004, which will mark the beginning of the realisation of Mexx Village. The expansion to 30.000 m² will partly take place on the terrain next to the Nissan-building, which has a potential of 8.000 m². Also the municipality of Amsterdam has reserved a surface next to the highway A10 which will also be used by Mexx.
