The Global Information Technology Report 2001-2002: Readiness for the Networked World (GITR) has recently been published by the Center for International Development at Harvard University. The report is meant as a reminder of the continued relevance and promise of information and communication technologies (ICTs) following the political and economic volatility of the last eighteen months. At the core of the GITR is the Networked Readiness Index (NRI), a major comparative assessment of countriesÂ' capacity to exploit the opportunities offered by ICTs.
