Neinver, Europe’s second-largest outlet operator, will manage part of the Megapark Barakaldo retail park, located in the Basque region of Spain.
Megapark, with a sales space totalling 128,000m², is owned by Lar España Real Estate Socimi and includes a retail area and the region’s only outlet centre. Neinver will take over management of the outlet centre and a retail area with a combined total of 64,000m². The managed area includes such renowned retailers as Decathlon, El Corte Inglés, MediaMarkt and a Mercadona supermarket, together with a 61-store outlet centre measuring 19,395m². This is the largest outlet centre in northern Spain and the only one within 400km.
The Megapark will leverage the Spanish company’s expertise in retail parks that combine retail and outlet shops. Neinver currently manages other benchmark centres such as the retail and leisure parks Alegra and Nassica, both in Madrid, and the two Futura Park complexes in Poland (Krakow and Wroclaw), which require a specialized management model, as they include a retail centre and an outlet centre.
