NCC has been commissioned by a joint venture between Catella, Nordkranen and DWS to construct approximately 440 rental units in Herlev near Copenhagen. The order value of the construction contract is approximately €81.2m (SEK 840m). The units will be constructed on land where NCC previously conducted asphalt operations.
“We are now making good use of our former industrial land and transforming the site into an ultramodern and environmentally certified residential area right outside Copenhagen. The location is optimal, and we look forward to realizing the project in cooperation with Catella, Nordkranen and DWS,” said Catarina Molen-Runnas, Head of NCC Building Nordics.
The project will be constructed as a city block with three high-rise apartment buildings located in the courtyard. The apartments will range from studios to three-bedroom units with an average size of approximately 75m² and many will feature a balcony. The city block will also include commercial premises, a rooftop terrace and parking spaces. The residential units will be certified under the DGNB Gold system. The city block is being built on former industrial land, where NCC has conducted asphalt operations for just over 20 years. These operations have now moved to Glostrup, where it will be easier to transition to sustainable production. In conjunction with the move, the land and associated development rights for residential units and remediation work were sold to Catella, Nordkranen and DWS. The land sale had a positive impact on earnings in the Industry business area in the fourth quarter of 2021.
Construction of the residential units will commence in the third quarter of 2022 and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2025.
