Stadsplein is expected to open in 2011.

Stadsplein, which is being developed by Multi Vastgoed in close collaboration with the Spijkenisse Council, covers around 12,500 m² of retail and catering space, 154 homes, an underground car park for 750 cars and a new square. Media Markt is to have a 4,500-m² outlet in Stadsplein and Coop Codis will open a supermarket of 2,400 m².

Spijkenisse Council is responsible for the new public space, including the new square. Stadsplein will form a hub with links to all parts of the town center. It will be an attractive area for shopping, living and recreation, partly thanks to the square with its terraces and restaurants, and the entrance to the new theater. The lower part of the square by the water offers space for various summer festivities.

Stadsplein Spijkenisse will become one of the new entries into the town center. "This expansion is crucial for the development of the center of Spijkenisse. The investors deserve full credit for being prepared to support the project," said Councillor Gert-Jan 't Hart.

Heino Vink, Director Retail at Multi Vastgoed: "With this project, Multi Vastgoed is again showing how it develops inner-city projects which are popular in all economic circumstances. Stadsplein Spijkenisse is a very sustainable project: not just in terms of climate-resistance, but also architecturally, as an urban development and as an investment product."

The design concept of Stadsplein was created by T+T Design from Gouda, the in-house design office of Multi Vastgoed. Dutch architect Sjoerd Soeters from Soeters van Eldonk architects in Amsterdam is responsible for the design.

Corio owns the retail area of Stadsplein and the supermarket site Kolkplein.
