MAPIC Awards 2026 winners revealed as Normal, Honest Greens and Activate take brand honours

Paris, France: The winners of the MAPIC Awards 2026 have been unveiled in the Grand Auditorium of the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, recognising the brands and projects shaping the future of retail destinations. The ceremony follows last month's announcement of the finalists. The jury was chaired by Joanna Fisher, CEO of ECE Marketplaces, and brought together ten senior figures from across retail and real estate.

The MAPIC Awards 2026 winners are:

Most Exciting Retail Brand

Normal, the Danish discount chain, has passed 1,000 stores across Europe and is entering Italy, Ireland, Austria, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Romania. Its model combines branded beauty, personal care and household products at low prices with a "treasure hunt" format that encourages frequent visits.

Most Exciting Food & Beverage Brand

Honest Greens is one of Europe's fastest-growing healthy, fast-casual dining brands, combining chef-led food, technology and premium design. It is opening in London and Paris while continuing to grow in Spain and Portugal.

Most Exciting Leisure & Entertainment Brand

Activate is billed as the world's first "active gaming" concept, blending sport, video games and immersive entertainment. Its first French venue has opened at Val d'Europe, and it plans around 30 venues across France, Spain, Portugal and the Benelux countries.

Best New Development Project

Valvert Croix-Blanche Retail Park, by Compagnie de Phalsbourg, is a 65,000m² lifestyle destination with a lake, an art trail and landscaped walking paths. It includes a "Fashion Street", an "Outlet Avenue", 18 restaurants, padel courts, a climbing wall and play areas.

Best Urban Regeneration Project

The Rembrandthof Extension at Stadshart Amstelveen, by Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, transformed and extended a key part of the town centre. Phase 1 attracted 15 new leading brands, improved public spaces and pedestrian links, and stimulated wider public and private investment.

Best Refurbishment Project

NEXTOPIA, by Siam Piwat, turned 15,000m² of retail space at Siam Paragon into a "sustainable prototype city" through adaptive reuse. It has drawn more than 4.2 million visitors and featured at the United Nations Global Compact Leaders Summit.

Best New Store Concept

COACH Play Shinsaibashi in Osaka, by COACH, is an immersive concept store that blends New York style with local culture. Its personalisation station has helped increase time spent in store more than eightfold.

The winners point to an unmistakable pattern: dwell time is now the currency of retail property. Every property winner pairs shopping with dining, leisure or public space, and every brand winner is built around frequent, experience-led visits. For owners and developers, the question is whether their schemes have the unit sizes, footfall profile and public realm to host formats such as Activate or Honest Greens. It is also notable that VIA Outlets, whose Landquart Fashion Outlet and Vila do Conde Porto Fashion Outlet expansion were both shortlisted in the refurbishment category, lost out to an adaptive reuse project that put experience and sustainability at the centre of the brief.
