Karel Stransky has been appointed Managing Director at Colliers International's Czech Republic office, based in Prague. Before taking this position, Mr. Stransky had been the Czech office's Director of Industrial Services for 13 years.

"Given the current economic crisis, the commercial real estate business requires Karel's expertise and marketplace knowledge in quickly analyzing and understanding market trends and creating successful strategies. He has been an efficient and flexible team leader as our Director of Industrial Services for many years and that is why we've decided to appoint him to lead the Czech office," says Otto Jelinek, Chairman of Colliers International Central & Eastern Europe.

Mr. Stransky started at Colliers International in Prague as a Senior Property Consultant in 1996. Over his career with Colliers International, he has consistently been recognized as one of the top performers across Europe and on a global basis. Previously he worked as a Deputy Chief Architect responsible for the development of the Southern Centre of Brno and as Development Manager at Bovis – P&O, where he was responsible for the development of the Czech Technology Park. Mr. Stransky has a doctorate in Geography from the Masaryk University in Brno and obtained his MBA degree at the Sheffield Business School. He speaks Czech, English, Russian and some German.

"Today's market conditions, although filled with many negative aspects, provide commercial real estate firms with exciting new business opportunities. My major task will be to leverage the potential and skills of our Czech office professionals into dynamic business teams and address these market opportunities faster than our competitors do. We view the current conditions as the perfect time to attract new senior talent, develop new service lines and focus on connecting with clients on a more personal level," says Stransky.
