Seasonally adjusted industrial production increased by 0.6% in the euro-zone in August 2002 compared to July 2002, Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities in Luxembourg, estimates today. Production had decreased by 0.8% in July, after a rise of 0.9% in June. Output in the EU15 increased by 0.3% in August 2002, after a fall of 0.1% in both July and June.
In August 2002 compared to August 2001, industrial production fell by 0.8% in the euro-zone and by 1.5% in the EU15.
Monthly comparison
In August 2002 intermediate goods increased by 1.0% in the euro-zone and by 0.8% in the EU15. Non-durable consumer goods gained 1.0% and 0.6% respectively. Capital goods increased by 0.3% in both areas. Durable consumer goods decreased by 0.7% in the euro-zone and by 0.5% in the EU15, while the energy index fell by 1.6% and 1.3% respectively.
