Hilton Worldwide are set to enter the Serbian market with the signing of a management agreement with Belaga Management Company, paving the way for an upscale Hilton hotel in Serbia’s capital city, Belgrade.
The seven storey, 242 guest room hotel will be based in Belgrade’s historic old-town in close proximity to major sights such as Square Slavija, St. Mark’s Church, the National Museum, Republic Square and the National Theatre and within easy reach of government offices, financial institutions and major corporate offices.
“Growing our presence in city destinations in south eastern Europe has formed a significant part of our regional growth strategy, as Hilton Belgrade joins Hilton Worldwide hotels trading or in development in approximately 30 European capitals,” said Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president of development, EMEA, Hilton Worldwide. “Expanding our portfolio to Belgrade will offer Hilton travellers an opportunity to experience one of the continent’s most intriguing cities, which is fast-becoming a must-visit destination, whether arriving for leisure or as part of a business trip.”
Siniša Mali, Mayor of Belgrade added: “Hilton Belgrade is a testament to our efforts of attracting investment to Belgrade and Serbia. The project, the first new build upscale hotel constructed in Serbia for decades, will accelerate the development of the tourism industry in Belgrade, create jobs and contribute to the €400m worth of construction projects beginning this month in Belgrade”.
