HelioSlough plans major Doncaster distribution park (UK)

HelioSlough, a joint venture between Helios Properties and Slough Estates, is planning to develop a 2.6m sq ft rail-linked distribution scheme near Doncaster.

The joint venture has assembled a 150-acre site at Stainforth, to the north east of Doncaster at Junction 5 of the M18. A planning application was submitted for the scheme, which will be known as Stainforth Gate Logistics Park, earlier this week.

Slough, which recently offloaded much of its retail portfolio in exchange for Land Securities’ industrial assets, has been readying itself for a move into big sheds.

HelioSlough Director, Mike Hughes commented: “This development is designed to cater for the increasing number of logistics operators seeking space in what is becoming the sector’s foremost location in the UK. In addition, the scheme will provide a much needed boost to the local economies of Stainforth and Hatfield and complement other regeneration plans for the region.”
