UK property group Hammerson plc has appointed headhunters to find a replacement for Chairman Ron Spinney, according to a report in the Sunday Times.
Spinney, who has been at Hammerson for over 10 years, has decided to step down later this year, said the newspaper.
John Nelson, a non-executive director, is understood to be the favourite to take over as chairman, although the recruitment agency is also looking at a number of external candidates, according to the report.
Nelson, formerly chairman of Credit Suisse First Boston Europe, is deputy chairman of Kingfisher PLC and is on the board of BT Group PLC.
