Huge crowds of residents from Owiêcim visited Galeria Niwa, the first modern retail and entertainment complex in the town and the surrounding region, during the first weekend after the mall's grand opening. The mall was warmly welcomed by the inhabitants of Owiêcim, and its car park has been bursting at the seams since 3 October 2009, when Galeria Niwa was opened. The tenants recorded great sales results during Galeria Niwa's first weekend.
The mall was opened by Paul Kusmierz, the Principal of Master Management, which is responsible for leasing the mall, Aleksander Ãwik, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of "BUDUS" S.A., and Katarzyna Kosel, Member of Management Board of Carrefour Polska, the largest tenant of Galeria Niwa. Galeria Niwa is currently fully leased and houses tenants such as Carrefour, Mix Electronics, Reserved, Cropp Town, House, Mohito, Komputronik, Drogeria Natura, Altero, LOGOSHOP, TOP SECRET and Wojas. The construction of Galeria Niwa started in July 2008. The total cost of the investment was PLN 70 million (approx. 16.7 mln.).
"We prepared a very special grand opening ceremony at Galeria Niwa for the town's inhabitants," said Maria Praýuch, Country Manager at Master Management. "For the first customers, we prepared several special attractions and promotions. Additionally, in order to celebrate the grand opening of Galeria Niwa, on 10 October 2009 we are organising an unforgettable concert, in which several well-know artists, including Patrycja Markowska, will take part. The concert will start at 16:00."
Galeria Niwa is situated on a 3-hectare site on 1 Powstañców Úlàskich Street, only 2 km from the city centre of Oúwiæcim. The mall comprises of one one-story building with a total area of 9,700 m². Galeria Niwa houses a Carrefour hypermarket (5,000 m²) and a shopping gallery with approximately 40 shops and a total area of 4,700 m². An underground car park with 312 parking places and additionally 155 ground-level parking places have been designed for customers with cars.
The construction of the mall was financed by Ramsay Sp. z o.o., and MMGM Development acted as the project's developer. Master Management, which is responsible for leasing Galeria Niwa, also takes care of the management of the mall. Galeria Niwa was designed by "BORM_projekt" Sp. z o.o. The mall was built by Katowickie Przedsiæbiorstwo Budownictwa Przemyslowego "BUDUS" S.A., selected as the project's general contractor.
