GIB 2001 net profit: € 751.3 million

GIB GROUP reported a consolidated turnover (net of VAT) of € 1 414.2 million in 2001, compared with € 4 022.1 million in 2000. The turnover of GB was consolidated for the first 8 months of the 2000 financial year. All the Group’s chains consolidated in 2001 reported turnover growth over comparable periods.

Operating profit was € 40.7 million in 2001, compared with € 17.2 million in 2000. Cash flow from operating activities was € 130 million in 2001, compared with € 148 million in 2000. The financial result was € -8.4 million in 2001, compared with € -6.3 million in 2000. The 2000 figure was favourably influenced by a share portfolio capital gain of € 3.5 million.

Profit for the year was € 32.3 million in 2001, compared with € 10.9 million in 2000.
Exceptional items were € 698.3 million in 2001, compared with € 557.6 million in 2000 mainly reflecting the capital gains realized on the sales of auto5, Cetelem Belgium, Club, Fimaser, GIB Immo and Inno, less write-downs and provisions associated with the reorganisation measures taken by Quick. Exceptional items for the 2000 financial year mainly reflected the capital gain realized on the sale of GB to Carrefour. Group share of the net profit was € 751.3 million in 2001, compared with € 572 million in 2000.
