During the next two years German institutional investors will further reduce their share holdings. This is the result of a study by the Greenwich Associates. During the past two years on average portfolio share holdings have dropped to 19% (previously 27%); the share of European shares have dropped from 22% to 16%: the share of non-European shares have dropped to 3% from 4%.
According to the study, over the next few years share holdings will continue to drop and non-European shares will increase slightly. As a result, the share of real estate and alternative investment funds will increase.
Greenwich Associates interviewed 203 large institutional investors in Germany, amongst which pension funds, trusts, insurance companies and banks.
