Garbe acquires logistics development site north of Leipzig (DE)

Garbe Industrial Real Estate is intensifying its activities in Saxony-Anhalt. In Bitterfeld-Wolfen, 30 kilometres north of Leipzig, the Hamburg-based real estate specialist has acquired a 200,000m² plot of land ready for construction. It is anticipated that a logistics property with a hall area of up to 110,000m² will be built on this site. The site is located in the so-called Technologiepark Mitteldeutschland (Technology Park Central Germany), which is one of the largest commercial and industrial locations in Saxony-Anhalt with a total area of around 300 hectares. Tenants in the area include the materials development, automotive and solar cell industries have settled there.

"With the purchase of the land, we are continuing our expansion strategy," said Jan Dietrich Hempel, Managing Director of Garbe Industrial Real Estate. "Due to its central location, good transport links and excellent growth prospects, Bitterfeld-Wolfen is undoubtedly an up-and-coming location in the Leipzig-Halle logistics region that will continue to benefit from the ongoing strong growth. In addition, as the land shortage continues to worsen, there are fewer and fewer opportunities to allow for a total building area of more than 100,000ft²."

The Technology Park is located only a few hundred metres from the junction to the A9 motorway. It is one of the most important north-south axes, connecting Bitterfeld-Wolfen in a southerly direction with Leipzig, Nuremberg and Munich and in a northerly direction with the Greater Berlin area. It is about 30 kilometres away from Leipzig-Halle airport.
