DTZ appointed to let Belgian outlet center

DTZ has been appointed to lease BelgianÂ's second purpose built outlet centre by Ram Euro Center called the Ardennes Outlet Centre.

The project, to be known as the Ardennes Outlet, has been fully consented and construction works are scheduled to commence in the summer this year. The centre will provide 10,000 sq m of purpose built factory outlet space on a prominent site on the outskirts of the city of Verviers, adjacent to, and over looked by, the E42 motorway.

A leisure complex (including Multiplex Cinema and Theatre/Concert Hall) is to be constructed immediately next door to the Outlet. Ram Euro Center s.a., a joint venture of RAM and BMV (Blaton & Moury) which are developing the site, appointed DTZ and Bureau Gerard for the letting of the whole retail area.

Paul Knight, DTZÂ's factory outlet specialist, said: 'We are delighted to have been invited to let this project, which will not only serve the regional Belgian resident population of 3.3 million residents, but also affluent neighbouring Germans within the cities of Cologne, Dusseldorf and Bonn. The introduction of the euro would mean that cross border trade will become more prevalent and that political boundaries will become less noticeable to the consumer.' The centre will have a catchment population of 19 million residents within 90 minutes drivetime.

Commenting on the new business win, Philippe Winssinger, head of DTZ in Belgium and Luxembourg said: 'This business win is a true example of how DTZÂ's international network can add significant value to our clientÂ's businesses. We are delighted to be involved in this sector at such an early stage in its development within the Belgian market. This new assignment also perfectly matches with the recent opening of DTZ Wallonia in the city of Liège. It is one more opportunity for DTZ to show its local knowledge.'
