DLA Piper, the global law firm, has announced that it will join with leading Danish law firm, LETT, by the end of May 2017. As a result, the firm will have five offices in the Nordic region with more than 370 lawyers, making it the largest law firm in the Nordic region.
LETT, which will rebrand as DLA Piper, is a full-service law firm with particular strengths in corporate M&A, insolvency and restructuring, pensions and insurance, and real estate, as well as the Danish public sector. It has around 150 lawyers in its Copenhagen and Aarhus offices.
This follows a move from the firm in February 2016 to join with leading Finnish law firm, Peltonen LMR, and integrate more closely with its existing office in Sweden, formerly known as DLA Nordic. With the addition of Denmark, DLA Piper's Nordic offices have strong industry capability across key sectors, including: Financial Services; Technology; Energy; Real Estate and in Infrastructure & Construction.
Simon Levine, Global Co-CEO at DLA Piper, said: "A key part of our strategy is to operate in all the major world economies and other important markets where our clients are based or do business. Together, the Nordic countries rank as a G20 economic entity and the region is home to some major international corporates. Many of our existing clients do business in the Nordics and by extending our presence in Denmark, we will now be able to offer them an unparalleled capability in the region and access to legal services which can meet their needs domestically, regionally and globally."
Henrik Puggaard, Managing Partner at Lett, added: "At LETT we share the same ambition and vision as DLA Piper, to be the leading business law firm. In an increasingly competitive legal business, having a strong global vision and a commitment to innovation are essential to provide the high level of quality expected by the market. We are therefore proud to become part of one of the world’s largest and best law firms."
