Central economic plan 2002 the Netherlands

The Centraal Planbureau (CPB) raised its forecast for Dutch 2002 GDP growth to 1.5% (previous 1.25%). For 2003 it expects an economic growth rate of 2.5%. Inflation should drop from 3.25% to 2.5% in 2003.

Highlights:
a. economic growth in the Netherlands will improve, but will lack other European economies;
b. labor market remains tight despite increasing unemployment;
c. due to delayed effects of the present economic slow down will see national budget deficit
