Carrefour acquires portfolio of 129 Coop Alsace stores (FR)

The Board of Directors of Coop Alsace has approved the sale of 129 Coop Alsace stores to Carrefour, only days after Carrefour signed an agreement with Klepierre for the acquisition of 127 shopping centers.

This transaction is the result of lengthy negotiations that started in October 2013 between the indebted retail chain and Carrefour group. According to the agreement, the Coop trademark will be retained in Alsace, either as it is or in co-branding with Carrefour. In total, 452 employees of the Coop Alsace group will be transferred to Carrefour.
