Each year, the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) recognizes the best shopping centers in Europe. A distinguished international jury of experts has now nominated 13 finalists for the ICSC’s 2017 finale.
Austria is the most successful country, with three shopping centers making the shortlist:
- Europark Salzburg made it into the finale in the category for established shopping centers
- Weberzeile in Ried is in contention for the award for new developments, and
- Fischapark Wiener Neustadt made it into the category recognizing refurbishments and expansions.
All three Austrian finalists are operated by the market leader: SES Spar European Shopping Centers
SES Spar European Shopping Centers is overjoyed at the three finale nominations. “Austria has become a trendsetter in the development of shopping centers,” says SES CEO Marcus Wild, who summed up the industry’s development thus: “The trend is clearly away from shopping centers on greenfield sites and towards opening up urban spaces."
